The EVAL-ADXL355-PMDZ is a compact, low-cost prototyping and development board engineered by Analog Devices. It offers an easy-to-use platform for evaluating the high-performance ADXL355 low-noise, low-drift, 3-axis MEMS accelerometer. Designed with a standardized 12-pin Pmod™ form factor, this evaluation board allows for seamless plug-and-play integration with popular microcontroller (MCU) and FPGA development platforms, including the ADICUP360, ADICUP3029, MAX32655FTHR, and Raspberry Pi systems.
High-Resolution, Ultra-Low Noise Sensing
At the heart of the board is the 20-bit resolution ADXL355 sensor, which delivers industry-leading long-term stability and precision. It features an exceptional ultra-low noise density (\(25\,\mu\text{g}/\sqrt{\text{Hz}}\)) and industry-leading 0g offset drift over temperature (0.15 mg/°C maximum). These specifications minimize the need for frequent calibration, making it perfect for applications that demand continuous, precise measurements over long periods.
Versatile Configuration & Extended SPI Interface
The board supports user-selectable acceleration measurement ranges of ±2g, ±4g, and ±8g, allowing you to tailor the sensor to your application's specific dynamic requirements. Communication with the host system is achieved via an extended SPI interface routed through the 12-pin Pmod connector, ensuring robust data transfer speeds. Dedicated pins for hardware interrupts (INT1, INT2) and Data Ready (DRDY) signals allow for efficient, interrupt-driven system design.
Target Prototyping Applications
  • Structural Health Monitoring (SHM): Track minute vibrations, tilt shifts, and structural integrity in buildings, bridges, and infrastructure.
  • Seismic Instrumentation: Capture high-fidelity seismic activity and ground movement data.
  • Inertial Measurement Units (IMUs): Prototype precision navigation, tilt-sensing, and robotics positioning platforms.
  • Platform Stabilization: Build precise leveling and stabilization systems for industrial machinery or cameras.
Development Support & Software Ecosystem
Accelerate your development cycle using comprehensive software resources. The EVAL-ADXL355-PMDZ is supported by open-source no-OS drivers for bare-metal systems, as well as official Linux Industrial I/O (IIO) drivers. Developers can quickly interface with the board, run tests, and stream data using command-line libiio tools, the IIO Oscilloscope graphical interface, or Python scripts via PyADI-IIO modules.
